Man Arrested for Attempted Abduction of TikTok Influencer Samiya Hijab in Islamabad

In a deeply disturbing incident that has sparked outrage across the country, a man has been arrested in Islamabad for the attempted abduction and harassment of popular TikTok influencer Samiya Hijab. The incident sheds light on the growing threats faced by female social media personalities and the ongoing issue of harassment and violence against women in Pakistan.

According to reports, the suspect, identified as Hassan Zahid, had been stalking Samiya Hijab for several days before the incident occurred. He had allegedly been pressuring her for marriage and, after being rejected, resorted to intimidation and threats. On August 31st, the situation took a violent turn when the suspect reportedly arrived outside her residence, where he physically assaulted her, snatched her phone, and attempted to drag her toward his car. The entire event was caught on CCTV footage and later circulated online by Samiya herself to expose the reality of what she had endured.

The video clearly shows the man approaching her aggressively, slapping her, and attempting to force her into a vehicle parked outside her home. Fortunately, the attempt failed, and Samiya was able to escape the situation without being abducted. However, the psychological trauma and public nature of the attack have left lasting effects, not only on her but also on her followers and fellow influencers.

Following the attack, Samiya filed a formal complaint at the Shalimar Police Station in Islamabad, detailing the harassment she had endured for months and the escalation that led to the attempted kidnapping. In her complaint, she also stated that the accused had continued to threaten her even after the incident, demanding that she withdraw her case or face severe consequences.

In a powerful and emotional statement shared online, Samiya said she feared for her life and referenced the recent murder of another influencer, Sana Yousaf, who was shot dead by a rejected suitor. “I don’t want to become the next Sana,” she said. “I am speaking up not just for myself but for every woman who is silenced by fear.”

The Islamabad police have since confirmed the arrest of the suspect and assured that a full investigation is underway. Multiple charges have been filed under the Pakistan Penal Code, including attempted abduction, criminal intimidation, harassment, and physical assault. The case is currently under judicial review, and Samiya has appealed for security and legal protection as the proceedings continue.

The incident has sparked a widespread response on social media, with fans, fellow influencers, and human rights advocates expressing solidarity with Samiya and demanding stronger legal frameworks to protect women from such threats. It has also reignited conversations around the safety of public figures—especially women—who face disproportionate risks due to their visibility.

Samiya Hijab’s brave decision to speak out has not only led to swift legal action but has also highlighted the urgent need for change. In a society where silence is often seen as the safer option, her voice stands as a beacon of courage and resilience.
